With the holiday season officially in full swing, there are bright lights and cheerful decorations are popping up everywhere you look. To get in the holiday spirit Watercrest at Kingwood recently hosted the community’s Festival of Trees. This special event took place at the senior living community and featured 10 one-of-a-kind Christmas trees designed by local businesses. During the holiday celebration, guests had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for the trees, with all proceeds benefitting St. Jude Children’s Hospital. A representative from the hospital even attended the event.

“Having the opportunity to support those in need during the holidays is incredibly meaningful to all of us,” said Karen Humaran, director of sales and marketing for Watercrest at Kingwood. “This is the third year we are hosting the Festival of Trees benefitting St. Jude, and we look forward to helping children served by the hospital for years to come. The holiday season is meaningful no matter your age but is especially magical for children. Knowing that some kids must spend the holidays in the hospital motivates us to help bring joy to them. Once the trees are up, our community becomes a visual reminder to give back and make a difference.”

Beginning Saturday, December 1, the trees were on display for visitors to stop by during business hours and begin purchasing raffle tickets for the trees. Each tree is donated and decorated by a local business or group, including:

  • Apple Moving
  • Jean Cermack – Mary Kay Representative
  • Encompass Rehab
  • Texas Home Health and Cameo Caregivers
  • DAV Pasadena Chapter
  • TAM Promotions
  • Bridge Solutions Home Health
  • Toastmasters
  • Encompass Home Health and Encompass Hospice
  • Watercrest at Kingwood
  • Residents of Watercrest at Kingwood
  • Marketing Department of Watercrest at Kingwood

The evening featured live music and plenty of delicious treats and refreshments as guests mingle and purchase raffle tickets for the trees. In addition, attendees could also purchase homemade baked goods prepared by Watercrest’s chef. Following the event, recipients of the trees could choose to take their tree home or donate the tree to a family in need during the holiday season.

“This is a special time of year when we all pause to reflect on what’s really important,” said Debra Burton, executive director of Watercrest at Kingwood. “At Watercrest at Kingwood, we understand this is a special time for our community and want to ensure everyone enjoys the holidays. We are always seeking opportunities to present our residents and special guests with opportunities to give back to the greater community, share experiences and enjoy time with one another. Through our Festival of Trees event, we hope to inspire others to find ways to give back this holiday season.”
